Our story~

Most moms with small kids can agree raising children is no easy task, let alone a strong-minded young man. Teaching them the importance of working hard for the little things we want in life -- including the latest version of Apple products -- is paramount for their future success. Being strong minded and self-motivated, Owen, wanted a job to earn some money to be able to buy these things.

For obvious reasons, finding a 9-year-old a traditional part-time job is not really an option. Well, the apple has not fallen too far from the tree here. Since Owen was still in diapers, he has watched his mom be a small business owner and he wanted in! So, on his own accord, he created everything that is Operation Candlelight. As his mom, I am honored to serve as his cheerleader and also now his business mentor!

What's with the name? As an active-duty family, we have all experienced the many hardships that come with serving our country. While the service member often has a built-in community with every deployment or geographical move (PCS), the service members family can often feel left behind or struggle finding friends and a feeling of community outside of those experiencing the same things.

Owen's vision was to do something that could not only serve his desires but also to give back to others. His mission is to give back to those Blue Star Families helping them to see that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Owen is dedicated to donating 10% of all proceeds to the Blue Star Families non-profit organization.
